Too Faced Born this Way Foundation Review & Swatches

By

Foundations are the single hardest makeup item to buy, don’t you agree?

Though I have so many foundations, I’m always trying out new ones, trying to find the best one out there.  I only blog about foundations I love and Two Faced Born this Way Foundation is one to blog about.  I absolutely loved it!

Born this Way is a full-coverage, buildable oil-free foundation.  Once on the skin, it blends together like harmony to make skin and foundation look like one. It is a fuller coverage foundation for those who want more coverage.  If you are looking for a very natural finish in your foundation this isn’t for you. Don’t get me wrong  – it doesn’t look cakey or anything close, but it does provide a lot of coverage.

During the day, or under natural light it does show.  Another plus point about the foundation is that it photographs beautifully.  There is no SPF in the foundation, which sucks because you’d have to wear it separately for sun protection, but in terms of a foundation it makes it photograph well.  For me, I usually have two foundations that I use at a time – one for day time, and one for evening/events/bridal clients.  This foundation I can use for both! I apply less and blend it out for the day time, and pack and build it up for evening or clients.

I’m an NC25 from MAC, and in the Born This Way Foundation I wear Vanilla.  I also like Warm Nude which is more pink than Vanilla.  I like applying it with a damp beauty blender sponge, I feel like they work well together and helps the foundation look more natural for day time. For clients or evening makeup, I use the foundation with a stippling brush.  I don’t set it with powder since my skin is dry and it isn’t hot yet in Toronto.  But if you live in a hot climate like Jeddah or Pakistan I’d recommend using either a blot powder/translucent powder (natural finish), mineralized (natural but provides a little coverage) or Studio Fix MAC (full coverage).

NC30 – Try Warm Beige

NC20 – Try Porcelain

I like the simple design of the bottle and packing of the product.  The built in pump head is convenient and 1-2 pumps covers the entire face.  The foundation is long lasting (a good 8 hours+), and once applied it sets into place.

Every product suits people different especially foundations, so please do test it out before you buy it to see if it will suit your skin.

I love how Two Faced is formulated without Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates.  It’s a cruelty-free product.
