5 Steps to the Perfect Matte Lip

 Velvety soft matte lips is a trend that everyone loves.  Wear it bold for more sophistication or go nude with dramatically defined eyes.  Big brands have added new dimensions to the typical matte lips with smoother creamier finishes.

Follow these steps for the Perfect Matte lip. 

Step 1: Exfoliate Exfoliate Exfoliate

Exfoliate dead skin off your lips by mixing together a little bit of honey with sugar.  Apply generously to your lips and scrub with an old toothbrush that will allow for a smooth and even application of the lip color.

Step 2:  Prep

Prep your lips with a clear lip balm, and allow it to set in before applying your lipstick.  Matte lipsticks can be a little dry, so moisturizing your lips will help give it an even application.

Step 3: Line

Line your lips with a freshly sharpened lip liner, then fill in the entire lip with the liner to help your lipstick last.

Step 4: Apply

Now apply the matte lipstick (ideally using a lip brush) starting from the center of your lip and blending outwards towards the lip liner.  Try to blend the lipstick into the lip liner carefully for an even application.

Step 5: Blot

Gently blot your lips against a tissue to take away any excess lipstick.

Pro Tip: If the lipstick is not matte, simple dust on some translucent powder to give it a matte finish.  This works best with pigmented creamy lipsticks.
