Late Night Munchies

By

Life gets busy and I often myself awake late into the night. Unfortunately my stomach stays awake, too. Here are a few easy light snacks that satisfy my late night munchies:

Fruit

Cut up any fruits that you have in the fridge, wash, rinse, place in a bowl, add chaat masala or black salt to taste and mix. This treat is both sweet and salty!

Wheat crackers

If you are a fan of peanut butter, you can top the crackers with some. I prefer to dress them a bit a more with marinara sauce, shredded mozzarella, and stick it in the toaster oven until the cheese is melted. If you have a spicier palate, you can use hot salsa in place of the marinara sauce.

Yogurt

Throw in some fruit and granola in a beer mug or wine glass you’ve got yourself a cute and tasty yogurt parfait. I only keep unsweetened Greek yogurt at home so I also add some stevia or honey to sweeten it.

Raw nuts

Avoid nuts that are salted or roasted in oil. Cashews, pistachios, and almonds are all low calorie nuts. I like to mix them with raisons.

Tomatoes

Fresh in season tomatoes are delicious on their own. I recommend slicing them up and drizzling them with a little balsamic vinegar. You can even add some basil and mozzarella to make a salad.
