The Healing Properties of Virgin Coconut Oil!
Virgin Coconut Oil
Virgin coconut oil comes from fresh coconuts after being cold pressed for two hours. It’s used in a lot coastal areas, and is especially popular in India! I’m sure a lot of us who’ve had a glimpse of any old Indian movies must have noticed the girls with braided oiled hair – that’s what keeps their hair strong, dark and healthy even at the ages of 70 or 80 and so on!
The Healing Properties of Coconut Oils..
- Preventing Dandruff
- Promoting hair growth
- Moisturizing
- Strengthening
- Thickens Hair
- Prevention of hair damage
Pre-Shampoo & Coconut Oils
Every time that you shampoo your hair thinking you’re cleansing them, you’re actually depriving them from a bit of protein each time, especially if they’re loaded with sulphates (so check out your ingredients). So in any case, over time, your hair tends to get thinner with the usage of shampoo. However, you can prevent this loss of protein by applying warmed virgin coconut oil in your hair for at least half an hour, before you hop in for a shower. You don’t necessarily have to do this each time you shower, but at least twice a week should be good enough.
Coconut Oils Conditioner
Coconut oils have amazing healing properties but sometimes you might not have enough time to apply it on for half an hour or even less. What you can do is use it as your conditioner! Either on its’ own, or even mixed with your conditioner. When using it on your own, apply very little – you don’t want your hair to be greasy. The tricky part is finding the right balance, so perhaps experiment on your days off. Start with small amounts, rub it between your palms and apply. If your hair is longer or porous and dry, apply slightly more & you should be good.
