Manish Malhotra presented his latest summer collection, at the opening of the Lakme Fashion Week 2014. Desi beauty blog brings you a sneak peek into his latest collection and his thoughts.

The collection titled “A summer affair” is inspired by romanticism says Manish where layers and boundaries are surpassed. Spotted were actresses, Kajol, SonakshiSinha,UrmilaMatondkar and KanganaRanaut along with others.

Creating a stirring contrast between hues of pink, powder blue, beige and ivory along with navy and grey, this summer it is all about print on print, embroidery on embroidery and tone on tone – threads mixed with metal and mirror add an inspired edginess. Modern day romance is about ease and comfort, about shedding and then creating new identities and this collection portrayed just that. Utility became a statement accessory with visible zip saris and summer skirt lehengas with pockets. Dress-styled kurtas and easy slim pants gave the collection a fashion forward edge.

The men’s collection introduced print on print and different textures in contemporary Indian jackets. Sherwanis were overruled by Bandis, and kurtas got a makeover as shirt kurtas.
