Shahid and Mira : All The Answers You’ve Been Waiting For !

You can’t help but love Shahid Kapoor.

The lad who entered the industry and wowed everyone with his mad dancing skills, went on to make some of the biggest blockbusters and later proved his acting prowess in Jab We Met and Haider.

Several media speculation and some relationships-turned-sour with famous leading ladies later, Shahid finally came into his own. From working on his body, to making some seriously good films and standing up for friends against potential industry bullies – Shahid is truly Bollywood’s golden boy.

So it comes as no surprise that when he wed LSR student Mira Rajput in a quiet family affair and posted a picture on Instagram it became the most liked picture in India* !

Who is Mira Rajput ?

Mira Rajput , the lady who stole Shahid’s heart is a Delhi girl belonging to a traditional Rajput family. She’s been a stellar student academically and goes to Delhi’s famous LSR college where she just finished her English Hons.

Mira and Shahid met through the religious group Radha Soami Satsang Beas; Shahid had earlier told media persons that he was inclined to marry someone from outside the industry. Mira is only 21 years old and is described by friends as a “shy” and intelligent person.

Mira and Shahid got engaged in January in a private affair.

The Wedding

The wedding was done in a typical Punjabi way with an attendance of around 40 people.

The couple hosted a party for family and close friends later at the Trident, and rumor has it that Shahid will later have a party for industry colleagues at the Palladium.

Kunal Rawal designed Shahid’s traditional outfit while Anamika Khanna had done up the 21-year-old bride’s trousseau. The wedding feast consisted of a lavish vegetarian fare as the couple’s families are followers of the Radha Saomi Satsang Beas.

Apparently, the road leading to the venue was cordoned off to keep gatecrashers as well as the paparazzi at bay. The walls of the farmhouse are 16-feet high and there was tight security.

In the build-up to the actor’s big day, his friends had started posting pictures of the couple at their sangeet ceremony. Mira wore a yellow Banaras brocade lehenga pairing it with a peach choli designed by Anita Dongre.

At the sangeet that became a media favorite, Mira and Shahid took to the floor on Tashan Mein Rehna from Shahid’s 2011 film Mausam.
Mira had gotten Shahid’s initials etched on her palms during the mehendi ceremony, along with a delicate floral design on her hands. The mehendi girls were each given Rs 1 Lakh as shagun.
