Mehreen Syed on her Marriage, Love and Valentines

By

Valentines day always brings the spotlight back to relationships. It’s that time of the year where the couples choose to reflect on their relationships and bring that spark back into their lives. A lot of us believe that love should be spread all year round. However, the hustle of our fast-paced lives, hardly allow us to light candles and gaze into each others lives on a daily basis, since we’re too busy running errands , feeding the kids and making a living. In all fairness, it makes sense to dedicate at least one day to showing the special someone that you love them. It doesn’t have to be only the man in your life, it could be anyone. Even a sibling or a friend.

On this day of love, I want to share a few secrets of love, life and relationships; read on for more on my Hubby Ahmed Shaikh and our marriage.

Romance and practicality –

We often get asked on who the more romantic in the relationship is. I think we’re both romantic in our own way. We both go out of our way to make sure the other one feels appreciated and loved. I think it’s important to maintain that balance. As far as practicality is concerned, I definitely think that’s Ahmed’s department. He is very focused and gets things done!

What I love most about Ahmed is that he’s extremely charming! He can probably charm his way out of anything. He’s probably the most caring person I’ve come across, whether it’s his family or friends he always puts them before himself. I think the third thing would be that he’s extremely supportive and understanding. He understands the demands of my career and always encourages me to follow my dreams.

When it comes to something I don’t like about him, it probably has to be that Ahmed can be a little messy sometimes, but I guess I can too, if I feel like being lazy!

A Valentines getaway? Maybe.

We would probably go to some isolated place south of Italy where we would have access to the waterfront but a beautiful hilly terrain to explore. I love travel !

Our moment <3

Every couple has their moments . For Ahmed and I,   we would both agree that the birth of our beautiful daughter has probably been our favorite memory since our marriage amongst many others!

Fights ? Who breaks the ice ?

Every relationship comes with its share of misunderstandings; who doesn’t have them ? When we have a tense moment, it’s definitely Ahmed who breaks the ice.  He has a great sense of humor, which is often used to calm tense situations! It really is a talent!

Support and guidance in a relationship

Ahmed has an extremely calming presence. As mentioned earlier, he is extremely supportive and practical which is an ideal combination for finding solutions to problems or calming a situation. He has a very soft yet systematic way of approaching any problem I may have or a bad situation pertaining to my career or our home. He encourages us to work as a team when it comes to making decisions and I love the fact that he always keeps my perspective in mind. That is the best kind of support in my opinion.

He has also encouraged me to push myself towards achieving my goals. His support always makes me want to be a better person, and I am grateful for it because I truly feel one should be with the person who brings out the best version of themselves.

What I love most about him is that he’s compassionate.

Fun and dance

We have our share of fun times. We both are fairly good dancers and pure Lahoris. We love food ! When we’re not doing anything else we love trying out new restaurants and going out to eat.

I think the key to having a great relationship is to spend as much time together as possible, to talk things out and make each other feel special from time to time. Love grows as it is nurtured, just like a sapling.

I hope you all give and receive lots of love this year. Happy Valentines Day everyone!
