Diva Bobs : Desi Celebs Who Took The Short Hair Challenge This Year!

2014 has almost come to an end and it is time once again for the fashion police to round up all the trends that went viral this year. From intricate statement neckpieces to gradient hair and lips, 2014 ranked pretty high on the fashion quotient. This was also the year where a whole lot of wearable styles and affordable fashion made an entry through all access online websites and popular fashion labels selling their products in the markets.

Another breakthrough this year saw, was in the embracing of short hair and the return of the bob.  Popularized by Audrey Hepburn and modernized by Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham), the bob wasn’t still accepted globally as something very “feminine”.  Desi shores especially enunciate the need for a woman to have dark, flowing tresses and beautiful eyes in order for her to be accepted as conventionally beautiful. Short hair was associated with boyishness and a carefree nature often, not expected of women traditionally.  Yet, many celebs took the cut this year and sported their versions of the classic bob. Freida Pinto

Whatever Frieda does, the unconventional tag will never leave her be. It started off with the light-skinned obsessed asian media reporting her as an “unconventional’ model because of her dusky skin and sunken cheeks.  The West however, has embraced Freida, and how! Known for her bold choices, Freida opted to go for a bob this year and would you know it, it turned out to be one of the best!

Anushka Sharma

Anushka will be sporting a bob in her next film with Aamir Khan. As soon as photos were posted online of her bob, the media went into a frenzy. Some wagging tongues even insisted that the bob did anything but flatter her already lean, boyish frame.  We think Anushka’s done a great job in embracing her role in the film and not being afraid to show it in public. After all, an actor’s ability lies in their versatility.

Sonakshi Sinha

Her bob was probably the most-talked about one in Indian media. Sonakshi’s incredible weight-loss journey is definitely an inspiring one, but is a short bob right for?  Sona has played mostly traditional roles in her career so far and it might not be easy for fans to get used to see her sport her svelte figure and slick locks of late.  We think it’s great that Sona’s experimenting with her looks and moving out of her comfort zone.

● Use some photoshop on your pictures and first check what you look like with shorter hair
● You might want to use a relaxant on your hair if it is especially unruly or curly (a really short bob can’t be tied into a pony and might leave you with messed up hair )
● If you are a little on the heavier side, a bob may actually make you appear more bulky and add weight to your silhouette
