You need to get more Fat! Yes I said it. You need to get more Fat. As in healthy fats in your diet! Most people think of reducing fat and carbs in their diet to loose weight. Monosaturated fats found in nuts, avacado’s, sunflower oil, olive oil etc are healthy and essential for you to maintain good health and also loose … FAT!! Yes! Here are the top 5 reasons I include fat as my regular regime:

1.  Healthy fats keep you feeling satiated and therefore can curb the empty carb cravings.

2.  Adding healthy fats to a meal slows gastric emptying and helps to stabilize blood sugar levels and most importantly fights inflammation.

3.  Healthy Fat contributes to healthier skin, hair, nails and overall healthier joints.

4.  Fat also plays a critical role in your nervous system, giving you energy and keeping you alert.

5.  Healthy fats like CLA are found in grass fed beef and organic dairy products, that have been shown to boost metabolism.

The problem these days is that most people consume too much of unhealthy fats, such as polyunsaturated fats. This includes anything deep fried, pan fried, processed foods, and many boxed foods! The key is to focus on Omega-3 fats found in flax seeds, avocado’s, olive oils, or a Omega-3 supplement.   So make sure you get some high quality good fats from natural sources and give up the unhealthy processed foods that are being stored as fat in your body rather than serving you with energy and satiety!
